Allergies

Allergies occur when the immune system reacts to a foreign substance such as pollen, bee venom, or pet dander. Symptoms can range from mild (sneezing, itching) to severe (anaphylaxis, which can be life-threatening). Primary care visits for allergies focus on identifying the triggers through history taking or allergy testing, managing symptoms with antihistamines or other medications, and providing advice on avoiding allergens. In cases of severe allergies, an epinephrine auto-injector may be prescribed. These visits are important for maintaining quality of life and preventing serious allergic reactions.
